Terrorist attacks in Pakistan fell by 37% in October 2026 compared with September, according to monthly statistics released by the Islamabad-based Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) on Sunday, 1 November 2026.

The country recorded 143 terrorist attacks in October, down from 226 in September. Deaths resulting from these attacks fell 57%, from 260 in September to 111 in October, while injuries dropped 71%, from 242 to 69 — the lowest monthly injury count in the past year, according to the report.

The improvement was most pronounced in Balochistan, where attacks fell from 132 in September to 71 in October, and in mainland Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where attacks fell from 58 to 40. Suicide attacks also declined sharply, with only one recorded in October compared with three in September.

However, the report flagged kidnappings as a serious concern: PICSS recorded 88 people kidnapped in terrorist incidents nationwide in October, up from 72 in September — an increase of 22% — with the problem concentrated in Balochistan.

Over the first ten months of 2026, PICSS recorded 1,376 terrorist attacks. Attacks and security forces’ counterterrorism operations together resulted in 3,902 deaths in that period, including 645 security forces personnel, 595 civilians and 2,597 militants, according to the report’s figures as carried by the outlets below.
